Dick Calio, recognizing that the independent retailer needs services beyond point-of-sale, formed Retail AdvantEDGE in 2005.
His years in retail technology had afforded him an understanding of which programs and services retailers require to run more efficiently and deliver more value to their customers.
It is Dick's goal to seek additional partners who can provide both functional and operational benefit to retailers and that these partners share their vision that "Retail AdvantEDGE provides solutions that offer return-on-investment and delivers what it promises".

Dick Calio has over thirty years of diversified business experience, with twenty years involvement in retail automation and point of sale systems. His experience with retail automation encompasses pre-assessment of system needs, development of implementation plans and utilization strategies for maximizing system capabilities. He has participated in the installation, support and training of over 500 retail point of sale systems, primarily in the hard goods segment of the retail marketplace.
Dick has presented seminars at various national retail trade shows. The titles of the presentations are "Technology, how to choose it, how to use it, and "How to get a return on your technology investment" and "How to achieve better customer retention through technology". He has contributed articles to various trade publications including Museum Store Magazine, Museums & More, The Natural Merchandiser and Lawn & Garden Center.
Dick was an IBM Business Partner and consultant to IBM for small retail business clients in New England and is currently on the technology committee for the Connecticut Retail Merchants Association. His current focus is providing consulting services to independent retailers for retail automation systems, e-commerce, customer loyalty programs and inventory and financial managment.
